Dog Sympathy Cards

Everyone has at one point or another lost a pet that is close to them. I myself lost my sweet baby girl boxer, Seaka, coming up on two years in October. So when I see someone in the family or friend that has lost their loved fur friend, I take the time to extend a sympathy card.

I tend to go lighter on detail with my sympathy cards, as I want the focus to be more on the message rather than the dazzle and flash of most of my cards.

Card #1:

This is a 4.5" x 4.5" card. I designed it in Silhouette Studios and cut it with the Silhouette Cameo 3.
Then assembled it using the Xyron Mega Runner®
I cut a thin strip of the Bazzill Basics Coconut Swirl cardstock and ran the white sheet through my Sizzix Big Shot using a paw print embossing folder by Darice. The sentiment is sketched right on the front of the card using the Silhouette pen holder and a Sharpie Fine Ultra Fine Point black pen.

Final Project:

The dog that passed away was named Sparkles. One thing I tend to do is bring in some sort of sublte personalization into my cards. For Sparkles, the paw prints and flourishes are cut in a sparkly black cardstock.

Card #2:

This card is also 4.5" x 4.5"
After designing and cutting out the elements for this card, I ran the cardstock through the Sizzix Big Shot with the same paw print Darice embossing folder.
The 'for your loss' is inlaid into the 'Sorry' portion of the sentiment. If anyone wants to learn how to do this with Silhouette Studios, just let me know and I'll throw a photo step by step tutorial together!
The dog that passed, Grizzly, was a chocolate lab. He had a rough start to his life, but had the best care possible for the last few years of his life. He learned what grass, hikes, nature, and life of a dog was truly about, therefore he is captured within the heart.

Thank You Card

Hello all! Any child is excited to get gifts or money from their grandparents. But for my children, I always make sure they know that it is nice to give the gift giver a thank you card.

Sugar Tip: All files are 50% off in the Silhouette Design Store right now!

For this card, my kiddos needed to send it to my mom for some school shopping funds she sent to them. I took this Twist Pop Card-School by Lori Whitlock found in the Silhouette Design Store and made some changes.

The first change I made was making it a larger 5" x 7" card. 90% of my cards are that size for two reasons. The larger the card, the more detail I can put on it and well that's the size of envelopes I buy usually!

The next change I made was the inside message. Instead of it saying "back to school", I personalized it with Nana Z and a message from the kiddos. I decided to add little school supplies to fit her name as that is what their funds went to!

Once everything was designed in Silhouette Studio and cut out with my Silhouette Cameo 3, I ran the pieces through my  Xyron Creative Station®

The Xyron Creative Station® applies adhesive to the entire backing of your cut. Therefore effectively allowing you to assemble the project without using glue and no warping occurs.
I used an old stack that I've had waiting for a good project to use it for. This Me & My Big Ideas Mambi Sheets stack is not double sided so I made a few extra cuts to make sure the inside walls of the card was decorated as well.
After running the inside pieces through the Xyron Creative Station® I was almost done.
I decided to play off of the blue sparkly glitter dots on the front of the card by embossing the 'Thank you' sentiment with a matching blue embossing powder.
Since the outer sentiment was much smaller, I ran the pieces through the Xyron Creative Station Lite®

Chore Chart

Hello all! Today I am displaying a project I have had on my to do list and with school starting soon, now was the time to do it. A chore chart. I need just that little bit more of organization in our lives since both of our children will be in full time school this year!

To begin with, I picked up this plain white board from Costco for $20. I was super happy to see it was plain, so that I could customize it to what I needed it to be with some vinyl, Bazzill cardstock, Silhouette Studio~ Designer Edition and Silhouette Cameo 3, the Xyron Creative Station®Xyron Creative Station Lite®Xyron® 5” Creative Station™ Laminate/Magnet Refill cartridge, and the Xyron® 9” Creative Station™ Home Permanent Refill cartridge.

First I designed the layout that I wanted in Silhouette Studio. I used three chore chart files (listed below) from the Silhouette Design Store that I modified into what I needed for the tiny chore squares.

Next I cut out each section using some vinyl I had lying around.
Weeding, my favorite part of vinyl!
Next I cleaned the board really well to make sure nothing would interrupt my vinyl application.
There are three sections laid out here with transfer paper. The first section, the calendar, and the last section were all cut separately and then aligned before applying to the whiteboard.

Next I decided to write instructions on the chore assigned for the child that can read using a simple pen and the pen holder attachment.
I then grabbed the Xyron® 5” Creative Station™ Laminate/Magnet Refill cartridge, and the Xyron® 9” Creative Station™ Home Permanent Refill cartridge as well as both the Xyron Creative Station® and the Xyron Creative Station Lite® to get to work. I could've used both cartridges in the Xyron Creative Station®, but decided to use both sizes because, well because I can . I decided not to use the Double-sided Laminate cartridge as the Laminate + Magnet cartridge would do everything I needed it to do, laminate and magnet it.
I ran all of the chore squares through the Xyron Creative Station® with the Xyron® 9” Creative Station™ Home Permanent Refill cartridge.
Then adhered them to a gray background square.
Using the  Xyron® 5” Creative Station™ Laminate/Magnet Refill cartridge in the Xyron Creative Station Lite®, I was able to run all the squares through quickly.
This was my first time using the Xyron® 5” Creative Station™ Laminate/Magnet Refill cartridge. It cut down on so much time as it laminated the top layer and applied the magnetic backing all at once.
I decided to cut around each square just using a pair of scissors so I wouldn't have to drag my big cutter out.
Final Project:
So far, they are really excited about their chore chart. Ask next week and I am sure the newness will have worn off!
Since I keep a different calendar on my computer and phone for my own organization, I decided that they really just needed a Monday-Friday calendar for academics, but threw in a shared slot for Sat/Sun just incase they have anything happening on the weekend.

Baby Autumn Explosion Box

Hello all! I created an explosion box for our newest SVG Attic member, baby Autumn. A huge congratulations to Beth and her husband Brandon for the precious gift of this baby girl.

To see other I-team member posts, please click here

To begin with, I grabbed three SVG Attic files from the SnapDragon Snippets store. The 'Scalloped Exploding 3D Box', the 'GC Sleeve Decor Baby Girl Romper', and the baby booties from the 'Baby Girl' set.

After I cut out each piece with the Silhouette Cameo 3 using DCWVinc.'s Posh & Pink stack, I ran each piece through the Xyron Creative Station®
The Xyron Creative Station® allows each piece to have a cohesive amount of adhesive to the back of each element.
Next I cut a few roses out using some vellum, to symbolize baby Autumn's middle name.
Final Project:
On the outside of the box, I embossed the Congratulations sentiment as well as little baby feet.

I modified the box a bit to make these pockets to slip encouraging tags into the sleeves.
