Baby Girl Explosion Box

Recently I had a request to make a card for a newborn baby girl. I gave the requestee 3 choices and she picked the one I was hoping to do, an explosion box. I haven't done one for awhile so I was happy to do this.

While cruising the Silhouette Design Store the other day, I came across this Explosion Box 3D Baby Room file by Daniela Moscone with Flavir Design.

This project took a full 3 days to complete. However, I got to play with a lot of toys, starting with the paper. I decided to use this file with DCWVinc.'s Posh & Pink stack. I think this stack is perfect for any little girl. It has subtle pinks, grays, silvers, whites, and blacks in it.

 

Now I am all about saving time! And sometimes I need to bring in extra little things to help with that. Clothespins, great for holding corners while I move on to other pieces.  

Another time saving tool that I love using is the Xyron 1.5" Sticker Maker. I used this for all the little details for this box.

I just so happen to run out of pop up tabs the other day. I bought a pack of foam sheets a long time ago with the hopes of making my own pop up tabs. Well, the ATG gun I was using wouldn't cooperate with me. I am glad I saved the foam sheets because this new toy worked wonders! 

I grabbed a sheet of foam and my newest toy, the Xyron Creative Station Lite® and made my own pop up square for the top of the box

 I cut the square foam just a smidge smaller than my top piece.

 I ran all three pieces in a row through my machine.

To show you the coverage of adhesive I got on all three pieces, look at the back of the black square. Perfection!

 This method worked so much better than the ATG gun I tried to do months ago!

 I decided to add a ribbon sandwiched between the black square and the foam.

 I didn't have to add any further adhessive

 Where oh where has the Xyron Creative Station Lite® been all my life?!

 I ran the sole of the booties through the Xyron 1.5" Sticker Maker. This made it easier to align the tabs without messing with wet glue.

Next I cut out a bunch of rolled flowers. Of course with my luck though, my quilling tool broke after the 2nd flower!  

 But I was able to continue on

 I used the McGuill flower rolling set for the little flowers on the booties.

The last and final toy I played with was my embossing powder for the leaves.

This is where I really love the double sided paper. I don't have to make double cuts of anything to decorate the inside/outside of anything.

To bring a little size to the situation, the body suit is no larger than a dime.
