Hello all! I am so happy to see signs of spring. Ready for the sun, warmer days, and best of all flowers with lots of color. Which happened to be my inspiration for this spring explosion box for my first official project as a part of the 2018 Xyron Design Team.
For today's post, I used six of my Xyron products as listed below:
- 1.5" Sticker Maker
- Xyron Creative Station®
- Xyron Creative Station Lite®
- Tape Runner
- Teresa Collins Mega Runner by Xyron®
- Teresa Collins ¼” Mega Runner refill
Step 1: Make the lid
I used the Tape Runner to adhere the sides of the lid so that I didn't have to wait for glue to dry and the width of the tape was perfect for each tab.
Step 2: Details
After cutting each piece out with my Silhouette Cameo 3, I used my Craftwell eBrush to bring in some colored detail. This project was probably the most I have used my eBrush on as I did each piece double sided since the majority of pieces are all 3D.
Step 3: Adhere
The fun part, assembly
For the carrot top, I used the Teresa Collins Mega Runner by Xyron® because I have a Teresa Collins ¼” Mega Runner refill cartridge in this gun for the smaller areas to adhere.
For the larger cuts, I used the Xyron Creative Station®
And for the smaller cuts I used the Xyron Creative Station Lite®. Of course I could have used one or the other machine, but I didn't want to waste any of my running tape on the larger machine when I have the smaller machine to help with the smaller cuts.
As you can see below, the different in width (about 4 inches) between the Xyron Creative Station® and the Xyron Creative Station Lite®.
For the carrot tops, I decided to run them through the 1.5" Sticker Maker as they were small enough to fit.
Not having to wait for each piece to dry after gluing together is a major time saving benefit when using they Xyron products.
The coverage of adhesive on each piece is equal which is one thing I absolutely appreciate and love when working with these larger pieces.
Step 4: Pop up tab
Oh yes, yes you can use these machines to make your own pop up tabs! A few pieces of foam ran through the machine top and bottom makes for instant pop up tabs.
After ran through the machine the first time, remove the top shiny sheet only
Flip the piece over and run through the machine again
Cut to size! So easy.
Step 5: Final details
Using my McGill flower rollers, I shaped each flower and leaf to what I needed.
For the stems, I simply covered wooden dowels and the bottom of each leaf with floral tape
